Summary. The article examines gymnastics as a means of artistic and aesthetic development of personality within the system of folk-stage dance. The significance of gymnastic exercises for the development of physical and artistic-expressive qualities necessary for mastering the technique of folk-stage choreography is substantiated.
The relationship between gymnastic training and the development of flexibility, coordination abilities, strength, endurance, plasticity, accuracy, and range of movement is determined. The possibilities of using gymnastic means to develop movement culture, musical-rhythmic expressiveness, and the ability to convey an artistic image through choreographic plasticity are revealed.
Particular attention is paid to the fact that the combination of gymnastic and choreographic training contributes not only to improving physical abilities but also to the formation of aesthetic perception, creative activity, and individual artistic expressiveness of personality. The expediency of purposeful use of gymnastic means in the educational and creative process of folk-stage choreography is substantiated.
