The article analyzes the essence and role of critical thinking in the professional training of higher education seekers. The names of scientists who in their works investigated the essence, peculiarities and properties of critical human thinking have been given.
In the XXI century information began to acquire new functions: from the improvement of equipment and technologies, the introduction of artificial intelligence to the critical thinking of people. In this context, it is important for a person to develop critical thinking – the ability to make carefully considered and independent decisions.
The attention has been emphasized on the essence of critical thinking as a process by which the human mind processes information in order to understand, produce ideas or solve a problem.
It is emphasized that a person's critical thinking can be considered at different levels: operational, objective, reflective, personal and communicative. The implementation of content functions in the mental process, for which critical thinking is inherent, is carried out at the operational and subject levels. The operating level of thinking is associated with operational memory, which stores visual, auditory, tactile, emotional, and other images of objects to resolve contradictions (controversies). The subject level of thinking contributes to solving the problem situation and is characterized by the identification of essential conditions and content characteristics of the categorical and terminological apparatus, etc.
The main properties of a person’s critical thinking have been characterized: awareness, independence, reflexivity, self-analysis, purposefulness, reasonableness, controllability, self-organization.
It is motivated that the cycle of management of the educational process in a higher education institution is a set of actions of the subject of management (management staff of the pedagogical system) on the object of management (managed staff, employee, content of management, educational process, etc.), which are interconnected and consistent and conditionally replace each other.
