Abstract

Summary. The purpose of the article is to determine the place of methodological competence of future choreographers in the system of professional training in higher education institutions, clarify its essence and identify the specific features of its formation during classical dance classes.

The results of the study demonstrate that the methodological competence of future choreographers is an important component of their professional competence. Based on an in-depth analysis of scientific sources on the topic, it was established that methodological competence is a specific category focused on the ability of future choreographers to apply the professional knowledge, skills, abilities, and methodological techniques acquired in higher education institutions in their subsequent practical activities to ensure effective choreography instruction.

The study found that the process of forming the methodological competence of future choreographers should be viewed as a set of stages through which students progress from acquiring methodological knowledge to independently developing, designing, conducting, and analyzing a choreography class. The article focuses on different scholarly approaches to the classification of teaching methods for future specialists in higher education institutions. Taking into account the specifics of the professional activity of future choreography specialists, the authors propose their own grouping of teaching methods that constitute the basis for the formation of choreographers' methodological competence.

The scientific novelty of the study lies in the proposed classification of teaching methods for future choreographers during classical dance classes in higher education institutions, which combines verbal-visual, practical-reproductive, problem-based and inquiry-based, interactive, project-based, digital, and reflective teaching methods.

Conclusions. The methodological competence of future choreographers is a component of their professional competence, and its development determines the high quality of teaching and further professional growth. The methodological competence is based on a combination of traditional and innovative teaching methods. Classical dance classes contribute to the formation of future choreographers' methodological competence through the combination of theoretical acquisition of choreographic material with its practical mastery, analysis of performance technique, selection of appropriate teaching methods, identification and correction of errors, and gaining experience in independently conducting individual elements of a choreography class.
