The article analyzes scientific approaches to the definition of the concept of "informational and communicative competence" (hereinafter – ICC) of junior border service inspectors (hereinafter - JBSI) and its structural components. It was revealed that the modern requirements necessitated the formation and development of the ICC of the JBCI as one of the leading components of their professional competence. The author analyzed the main concepts related to ICC of the JBCI, proposed the author's definition of this concept and presented its structural components. Thus, the ICC of the JBCI is presented as a component of professional competence and an integrative personality characteristic, which is based on a dynamic combination of knowledge, skills and practical skills in the systematic and contextual application of information and communication technologies (hereinafter – ICT) and electronic educational resources on the Internet and the departmental network of the border agency, ensures the satisfaction of information and communication needs for personal and professional improvement, and allows to effectively perform professional tasks in the conditions of service and combat activity and professional training, as well as to use modern equipment, weapons and military equipment. Given the peculiarities of the professional tasks of service-operational and combat activities of junior inspectors of the border service, the structure of their ICC is highlighted as a combination of value-motivational, cognitive, information-technological and operational components.
