Summary. The article is devoted to the implementation of the communicative approach in the process of teaching English in a higher education institution. The concept of "communicativeness" presupposes, first of all, the individualization of educational and speech activities: taking into account all the peculiarities of the student as an individual. The communicative approach determines the content, goals, methods and principles of education. An important factor in the communicative method of teaching a foreign language is the principle of novelty, which ensures the constant interest of students in the educational process.
Special attention is paid to the most effective and appropriate techniques and interactive methods of the communicative approach. An important competence of a modern student is the ability to use information and communication technologies through virtual space, which is the most accessible means of communication. Thanks to the introduction of the communicative approach, learning a foreign language has acquired a more practical color, which implies the situational nature of learning. The combination of interactive technologies, a favorable atmosphere, orientation to the student's personality in the class contributes to learning self-control and self-analysis, enriching life experience. The communicative method, which includes the individualization of learning speech activity, involves taking into account all the features of the student's personality, his abilities to carry out educational and speech activity. Mastering foreign language communication skills is realized through the study of such objects of knowledge as nature, society, man, work, technology, language. Thanks to the synthesis of knowledge, it is possible to stimulate communicative and cognitive activity. This increases interest in a foreign language, stimulates students to work independently in search of new information. An urgent issue today is the preparation of students for real, and to some extent, spontaneous communication in a foreign language.
