Abstract

The article is dedicated to the topical problem of national-patriotic education of future healthcare professionals in higher education institutions. The main attention is paid to the psychological and pedagogical aspects of the problem under study. Based on the analysis of scientific sources, the authors reveal the concepts of "patriotic education" and "national-patriotic education", point out the specifics of different approaches to the main components of these concepts. It has been found that some scholars include cognitive, ethno-identification, emotional and motivational, and practical components of patriotic education, while the components of national-patriotic education include civic-patriotic, military-patriotic, and spiritual and moral education.

National-patriotic education of student youth is based on general pedagogical principles (humanism, child-centredness, culture-consistency, nature-consistency, consideration of age and individual characteristics) and the specific principles inherent in this area of education (national orientation, self-activity and self-regulation, multiculturalism, social conformity, historical and social memory, intergenerational continuity). It was found that the main methods of national-patriotic education of students are persuasion, stimulation, personal example, and self-training.

National-patriotic education of students in higher medical education institutions is carried out on the general principles of the Concept of national-patriotic education in the education system of Ukraine. Such education is carried out primarily through lectures and practical classes on educational components related to the study of the history of Ukraine, law, medical law, pedagogy and psychology, as well as informational and educational hours under the guidance of academic group supervisors, the system of group activities, and the involvement of students in student government.

Using the example of Cherkasy Medical Academy as a case study, the article describes typical forms of work on national-patriotic education of students, including excursions to the local history museum, museums of military units, meetings with ATO veterans, combatants, hiking in places of military glory, and national-patriotic search activities, participation in city-wide events dedicated to commemorating fallen soldiers, stories about prominent medical teachers and leading doctors of the native land, game quests, information minutes, video quizzes, video lectures, activities of the clubs “Law’, “Medical Themis”, “Legal Protection”, charity events in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, etc.
