FEATURE FILMS AS AN EFFECTIVE MEANS OF FORMING COMMUNICATIVE COMPETENCE IN GERMAN LANGUAGE LESSONS

Summary. Introduction. The article examines feature films as an effective means of developing communicative competence of senior secondary school students in German language lessons. The relevance of using authentic audiovisual materials within a competence-based approach to foreign language teaching is substantiated.
Purpose. The theoretical foundations of communicative competence formation are analyzed and its structural components are defined. The pedagogical potential of feature films is revealed, as well as the criteria for selecting German-language films and the methodological conditions for their effective use in the educational process.
Methods. Special attention is paid to the stages of working with feature films (pre-viewing, while-viewing and post-viewing) and to a system of practical exercises aimed at developing listening, monologic and dialogic speaking skills, as well as intercultural communication. It is proved that systematic use of feature films in Results. Working with feature films as a motivational tool in the classroom diversifies the types of learning activities in the process of German language acquisition and contributes to the creation of a positive and engaging learning environment.
Originality. The results of the study prove that the use of feature films in German language lessons helps to create a strong cognitive motivation, increase learning efficiency, and develop the automaticity of speech actions. Film-based activities also foster a serious attitude towards the subject, implement elements of cooperation and competition, and enhance each student’s responsibility for learning and classroom discipline.
Conclusion. German language lessons increases students’ motivation, activates their speech activity and contributes to the effective formation of foreign language communicative competence.
