Abstract

Summary. The problem of the research is the need to identify the educational potential of cobzarstvo in the formation of patriotism among schoolchildren. The purpose of this study is to identify the effectiveness of cobzarstvo in the patriotic education of schoolchildren. The study combines qualitative and quantitative approaches; the literature review was conducted on the basis of critical analysis, comparison, and generalization.

According to the results of the study, we found that the majority of senior students of Ukrainian secondary education institutions are characterized by a rather low level of patriotic upbringing, which is confirmed by the results of the ascertaining stage of the experiment. We call the main factors of such indicators: insufficient level of knowledge, awareness of issues of citizenship, identity; weak, fragmented ideas about patriotism as an “extra” personal component; lack of practical interest of teachers not only in deepening the content of educational work, but also in the spiritual growth of students.

The scientific novelty of the study lies in the experimental verification of the effectiveness of the structural-functional model and pedagogical conditions of patriotic education of schoolchildren through the means of cobzarstvo. Further research on the issues of patriotic education of schoolchildren through cobzarstvo may be related to purely psychological factors that form a special connection between the individual and his ideas about the Motherland, the nation, and the people.
