Abstract

Summary. Introduction. The formation of innovative competence in students is an important task of modern higher education, especially in the context of rapid technological change and the process of digitalization. The training of modern agriculture students requires the use of innovative pedagogical technologies that will contribute to the development of professional competence, innovative thinking, and the ability to implement the latest technologies in agriculture. The combination of thorough theoretical and professional training of future specialists with their acquisition of practical skills to promptly and appropriately respond to rapid changes in the technological process, mobility, and self-development is one of the main tasks of the modern educational process in higher education institutions.

Purpose. The purpose of the article is to identify the main types of innovations in higher education institutions and to determine the role of innovative learning technologies in training the future specialists in agricultural sector.

Methods. Theoretical analysis of literature, grouping and systematization of collected material, modeling.

Results. The article focuses on revealing the key concepts of the problem under study, such as pedagogical technology, innovation, innovative pedagogical technologies, classification of pedagogical technologies, and innovative competence. The main criteria that innovative pedagogical technologies must meet are outlined: conceptuality, systematicity, manageability, efficiency, and reproducibility. The classification of innovative pedagogical technologies of education in higher education institutions is considered. The article pays special attention to the features of using the following pedagogical technologies in the training of future agricultural specialists: person-oriented learning, interactive, digital, information and communication technologies. The article considers the important technologies, which were not previously paid attention to in the educational process. A list of mobile applications and platforms that are currently used in agriculture and studied in practical and laboratory classes at higher education institutions is provided, namely GPS field area measurement, Agro Calculator (Calcagro), 365 Crop, Soil Sample, Agrobase – weeds, diseases, insects, FarmLogs platform, Labster virtual laboratory, etc. Author’s developments on the use of innovative pedagogical technologies in practical and laboratory classes in the following disciplines are presented: “Plant Production”, “Agricultural Machinery and Machine Use in Plant Production”, “Soil Science with Fundamentals of Geology”, “Phytopathology”, “Agriculture”, “Fruit Production”, “Breeding and Seed Production of Field Crops”.

Conclusion. Innovative pedagogical technologies play a major role in the formation of innovative competence in future specialists in agronomy and become the key to effective training of new generation students. The use of innovative technologies contributes to the development of critical thinking, adaptability, the ability to make independent decisions and the use of modern agricultural technologies in professional activities. The methodology for using digital technology in laboratory classes in agricultural disciplines requires further research.
