Abstract

Summary. The article discusses the development of the active foreign language learning technology in the 90s of the twentieth century. In particular, the importance of listening mastery as an effective means of teaching foreign languages ​​is argued.

The modern world puts forward new requirements for the mastery of foreign languages, which have become a necessary element of professional and personal development. In this regard, the issue of effective foreign language learning is becoming more and more relevant. One of the key aspects of this process is the mastery of listening skills, which is a basic prerequisite for the development of other types of speech activities, such as speaking, reading and writing.

Listening provides an opportunity to master the sound side of the language being studied, its phonemic composition and intonation. Acquisition of the lexical composition of the language and its grammatical structure occurs through listening. At the same time, listening facilitates the mastery of speaking, reading and writing.

The historical-pedagogical aspects of foreign languages study technologies at the Ukrainian higher educational establishments in 1991–2000 of the 20th century have been researched. The basic processes of foreign languages study at the Ukrainian higher school technologies formation and development of this period have been determined and characterized on the basis of scientific literature, documents and pedagogical analysis.

The purpose of the article. To prove the importance of developing the technology of active foreign language learning in the 1990s and to determine the role of listening in this process.

Methods. The main research method is the theoretical and methodological analysis of pedagogical heritage. The research methodology includes the study of literary sources, theoretical generalization and modeling of the listening mastering educational process. In accordance with the historical-pedagogical research specifics, a retrospective analysis of the scientific and methodological literature on the problems of organizing the foreign languages study in higher education and a historical approach to its consideration were used.

The results. The literature analysis showed that the development and implementation of new listening technologies in the study of foreign languages ​​in higher education largely depends on ensuring continuity, taking into account and critically understanding what was done by predecessors.

Originality. The development of new listening technologies teaching of Ukrainian students at higher establishments in 1991–2000 years was analyzed. It has been proved that ensuring continuity between modern research in the development and implementation of new technologies for learning foreign languages and previous searches and achievements in this field is an important condition for progressive development of modern pedagogical technologies.

Conclusions. The analysis of listening teaching technologies at Ukrainian higher education establishments in the period from 1991 to 2000 showed that the development of effective modern innovative approaches to the study of foreign languages is impossible without a perfect knowledge of prehistory, scientific and pedagogical heritage, and historical assets in various fields of pedagogical knowledge.
