Summary. The article analyzes the theoretical principles of patriotic education of military personnel of Ukraine. In turn, the main tasks are defined as: formation of a sense of patriotism; formation of the desire to master military knowledge; increasing the prestige of military service; training and education of selfless, conscious defenders of the Motherland, ready to defend the territorial integrity and independence of Ukraine. Analysis of the essence of the concept of individual patriotism allowed us to determine its content.
In the complex of individual and psychological properties of a warrior's personality, an important place is occupied by abilities that express his readiness to master the relevant types of activities with the greatest efficiency.
It is emphasized that in educational work it is necessary to take into account the temperament of a military serviceman – a set of individual characteristics that characterize the dynamic and emotional side of his behavior, activity and communication, as well as the character of a soldier.
Thus, three main approaches to characterizing the concept of education have been formed in the psychological and pedagogical literature. The first of them – the educational process is considered at the sociological level as a process of socialization of the individual. The second process is considered at the psychological level. Since the individual is at the center of the educational process, the effectiveness of education is determined by the patterns of personality development, its age-related capabilities, and individual psychological characteristics; the third is actually pedagogical. It is noted that the highest form of patriotism is sacrificial love for the Motherland, which manifests itself in the fact that a person endures torment and even goes to death for its sake.
